Written for: The Twiglets #105 – “could not lose”
He could not lose
himself in a crowd.
After events in her life,
there was nothing more left to lose.
A boozing loser
all his life
was finally kicked out
by his fed up wife.
There once was a man, twice divorced
who was told, you can’t lose on this horse
Bet him to win
He’s a cinch to come in
Man thought luck would change. Horse finished last, par for the course.

About purplepeninportland
I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York.
My goal is to create and share poetry with others
who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve
in you, and feel your sparks as well.
Love that limerick!

Always fun to visit your verses. I’m trying to catch up today!
Luck is something that is hard to control that’s for sure. Some say we make our own luck – positive attitude and all that. Can’t count on betting one’s last dime – of course to many do just that.

I am not a gambler at all, yet both parents loved to go to Atlantic City. Thanks, Jules.
