“no surprise”

Written for:  The Twiglets #106 – “no surprise”

No surprise
in her eyes
entering her party.
She faked a gasp, smartly.

There are no surprises
anymore, said the cynic
until she met Santa Claus,
broken leg at a clinic.

super moon tonight
spreads soft halo ‘cross sky
ever thrilling surprise

In planning his girlfriend’s surprise
a party he hoped would comprise
good food, music, and friends
where everyone would blend.
He reserved wrong date, surprise compromise–pizza pies.

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

    Oh… all lovely as usual.
I tried to take a photo of the full moon. I used one of the special features when getting it developed and it looks like it has rainbow rings around it!
