Written for:  Carpe Diem Weekend Meditation #66 On the road again … Tacna (Peru)
We have arrived at Tacna Peru, close to the Chile border, and as you maybe know Peru was once part of Spain and the main religion was Catholic church. For this weekend meditation I have a wonderful image for you of the “Catedral de Tacna” to inspire you. Next to that image I love to challenge you to create a haibun with a maximum of 250 words (including the poetry) in which you try to describe your “inner journey”.

I constantly seek signs from people I love who have passed on.
Sometimes I wake in the middle of the night, certain I hear
my father saying my name.

Meditation has become an avenue of seeing myself, recognizing
what is truly important, and what is trivial. Inner peace
is illusive, yet worth striving to reach. So I continue,
and wonder if I will ever feel it , and if it has become a fixation.

Dogs smile
On walks they are ecstatic
Have they found an answer?

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
