For Jane’s Spirit

Written for:  Carpe Diem Weekend Meditation #68 – Tan renga with Jane – “her gentle spirit”
Today I have chosen another nice modern kigo extracted from Jane Reichhold’s “A Dictionary of Haiku”, a complete saijiki in which Jane gathered modern kigo and gave examples of all those modern kigo by creating wonderful haiku. Today I hope to inspire you with calm through the following haiku by Jane:

a certain calm
in summer’s passing
flowers                                                         they way the hold their heads up
to catch last of summer’s sun
flat seas
with the butterfly’s flight
a certain calm                                             still waters radiate peace
                                                                       delicate butterfly flutters

the hour silent
before the birds awake
waves on sand                                           cast by ocean shadows
                                                                       await first bird footprints

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
