Shy, inhibited, this girl was tough
to converse with, though not difficult
to find. She favored a bench
in the park. You might find
her sitting there even in
the chill air of night. Hints circle
round, as rumors are bound
to do. Some say she had been
on trial–swiped some jewelry–
her and an accomplice. They say
she got off easy, being a minor
at the time. Well, you can file
me under “P” for Persistant.
Something about mixed signals
she sends. I sense she has
repented, and wants another
shot at life. I can wait.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
