Give All You Have

Written for:  The Sunday Whirl, Wordle #392

Words:  tithe, maybe, chide, wormhole, trial, decide, ride, just smooth bright, vial, tide

The tithe decided upon
seemed exorbitant. A tenth
of a wormhole does not leave
much wiggle room. Those
that hope a paycheck may be
stretched sufficiently
to tide them over,
riding it out
from week to week–
just barely making it–should
not be put on trial or chided
for lack of contribution.
Institutions headed up
by bright smooth-talkers
can guilt people into giving
and giving. They want their
vial of blood.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

If you give just once the word gets round and you are surrounded by begging charities.Best to be strong and say no!

So true–my mailbox is now flooded with envelopes and requests for more “support”.
