Sleek Ebony

I offer you various paintings that attracted my attention. Interpret the images any way you please.

You may select as many images as you wish, however, please pair each with an original poem.

Sleek stallion of ebony,
proud to be a member
of the equine nation. No
bias, no degradation among
any of our lustrous colored
family.  They have reined me in
for now, unaware of how
we all plan to escape,
over those hills,
wild and free,
the way we were meant to be.
For animals of our stature, it is
in our nature.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
