Written for: 2019 April PAD Challenge – Day 1 – Write a morning poem
and for Imaginary Gardens With Real Toads – Write a poem about love! Or about the seasons changing, love affairs growing old, streams swelled with rain, memories of Simon and Garfunkel in Central Park, or anything else that comes up for you while watching and listening to this perfect, perfect song. Enjoy!
Start of a winter morn
hiss of heat, a promise
slippers for icy tiled floor
Chirping, chattering birds
balanced on branches
of budding maple tree
Lemon sun sings morning
early coffee outdoors
‘fore afternoon’s orange ball
Awaken in Autumn chill
leaves loosening in breeze
time to change clothes closet

I love how the seasons determine and define our days, and our joys and comforts. Loved this, Sara.

I agree with Sherry’s comment – the way you’ve painted a brief glimpse into the seasons of a day, the transitions unfolding, how we morph and watch, lean into the day and the changes –
lovely Sara 🙂

I love all the sounds and colors you have put into this poem. “Lemon yellow sun sings morning”…this just sounds so perfect. There was a premature changing of the clothes closet…flipflops have been put back under the bed to be pulled out at a later date. But that is April, changeable.
