Wordy Thursday with Wild Woman: Scars to Your Beautiful (posted by Sherry)
Write a poem sharing whatever words and feelings this song and/or video inspires in you.
Befitting her name, Grace,
she shines like the elusive
shining star.
Young pain is cruel. Dancing
to your own tune is thwarted
by those beautiful people
who think everyone should look
like them, think like them.
Standing on your own, and not
changing yourself or your dreams,
is worth that youthful pain,
for youth is quickly gone.
This is so beautiful and true. You reminded me of a quote attributed to Susan Sarandon that goes like this: “I look forward to being older, when what you look like becomes less and less an issue and what you are is the point.”

So true, Sara. The ones who didnt fit in in high school went on to live the most amazing lives! I love this poem!

You make it very easy to meet the challenge. Nothing like having inspiration to the surface. It was beautiful.

Those days are fleeting – but a strong sense of will and direction will outlast any awkward moments (years!) … – its just trying to tell young people this and have them believe it!
