New York State in Mind

Pick a state, make it the title of your poem, and then, write your poem.

What is your favorite town or city to take a stroll in?

In a city ever changing
new sights are consistently seen.
In late sun, office buildings gleam.
Areas become renamed.

In some spots, keep your speed maintained,
then stroll through Central Park’s scenic greens.
In a city ever changing
new sights are consistently seen.

Eat a slice of pizza, topped or plain.
In Soho buy three-hundred dollar jeans,
or a broadway show might be your dream.
Each neighborhood is entertaining
in a city ever changing.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
