The Lovers 2

The Dystopian Tarot, The Lovers Kerry O’Connor

She leans seductively
against a tree, turning
it into a snake. He is
enthralled, will give
his all to please her.
He extends a palm filled
with cherry fruit. She is
coy, hesitates. Neither
sees Mother Nature of
this garden observing
them, reserving judgement.

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

  1. They must be so enthralled in each other

  2. Margaret Elizabeth Bednar says:

…she is coy. Hmm – I think your Eve is playing games.

  3. It is interesting that he is offering the fruit to her. I think she should continue to be coy.

  4. Jim says:

He doesn’t know what is good for him or he would have run. Only Mother Nature can be of help now.
(Is this a story in which the continuation will be a compilation using our helpful comments?)

I love that her seductive pose turns the tree into a snake, that he is the one offering the fruit and that Mother Nature reserves judgement – an interesting reversal, Sara!

  6. Kerry says:

Haha! Yes.. best to reserve judgement, since there is no understanding the whims of fancy.

  7. sanaarizvi says:

Eve seems to have a few tricks up her sleeve! Love this, Sara! ❤️
