A Dream of Summer Rain

Written for:  The Sunday Whirl, Wordle #405

Words:  cheer, sweet, teeming, swirl, free, kneel, beam, stick, drive, dream, sign, chill

Filled with cheer, I dream
of a sweet teeming summer
shower. I am swirling free
in a beam of sun shining
through. Hair sticks
to my face, yet I am not
driven to shelter indoors.
I see a heads-up penny,
kneel to pick it up. A sign
of good luck. In my head
I hear, ‘you will get chilled’,
but I know I will not because
this is only a dream.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
