“picking peas”

Written for:  The Twiglets #128 – “picking peas”

I pick peas
over kale.

Picking fresh peas
out of the pod
affords you a
tastier experience,
than frozen. Plus,
it’s fun to squeeze
the pod and watch peas
pop out.

Minding your P’s and Q’s
has nothing to do
with peas.

The Princess and The Pea
was my favorite fairytale.

There was a young man from Peoria
who thought that peas were good fer ya
They grew in his garden
allowed by the warden
but were stolen by felons; now there’s no more fer ya

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

I agree – I think you Limericks would make a unique and delightful gift collection!

I think I remember shucking peas. I have a recipe I want to try; pea fritters. 🙂
