Briefs Encounter

Written for:  Poetic Asides #482
“For today’s prompt, write a brief poem. Sure, the poem itself can be brief (in the sense that it’s very concise). But the poem could be about a brief event. Or it could feature a briefcase or involve a media briefing. As always, take it wherever you wish!”

While shopping for briefs,
he is surprised and stunned
to see store shelves overrun.
He stares in disbelief.

Stacks of low rise, high rise,
some that stopped at mid-thigh,
and choice of material?  He sighs.
There’s cotton, thermal, flannel–each size.

And there they are in vivid hues,
slim silk boxers. His heart quickens.
He wonders how they would feel on him.
Buys one of each–too tough to choose.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
