“Today I have chosen a haiku by one of our haijin from the start of CDHK. I know that he is a great author and a great haiku poet and with this choice I hope to give him a feeling of joy.”

Pine Tree

the aroma of pine

the aroma of pine
and the young morning’s fresh rain
reach my words

© Hamish “Managua” Gunn (Taken from “Shinrin Yoku, the art of forest bathing”)

the aroma of pine
inhaled, tickles my nostrils
enticing fresh scent

and the young morning’s fresh rain
dancing diamonds
on pine needles

reach my words
to recreate your beauty
in scented letters

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
