Connections

Written for:  Poets United Midweek Motif~Bridges  (posted by Sumana)
“In the tarot the bridge card means connections, assistance, stability and progress: it’s a symbol of hope.

However bridges also are silent witnesses to unfortunate happenings. Ambrose Bierce’s An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge or Thomas Hood’s Bridge of Sighs dwell on such events.

Write a Bridge poem today.”

“Poetry isn’t an island, it is the bridge.
Poetry isn’t a ship, it is the lifeboat.
Poetry isn’t swimming. Poetry is water.”
― Kamand Kojouri

Connects people by silver span
New places are now within reach
Like angel wings of steel so grand,
connects people by silver span.
Walk across in Spring if you can,
see what a new perspective can teach.
Connects people by silver span
New places are now within reach.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

  3. Sara,
I believe we are much better with bridges in life, than without. They provide opportunities through contact, language and transportation.
Poetry is indeed a bridge from one train of thought to another!
