Written for:  Poetic Bloomings2 – Prompt #252 – “Coming and Going”
“If this prompt makes you unsure whether you’re coming or going, write one of each. Write a “coming” poem. Write a “going” poem. Or give a voice to your frustration and write a “comings and Goings” poem.”

Have another glass of wine.

No, I really must be going.

This lovely Summer night deserves
a toast. I’m bringing in  a plate
of cheeses. You know how much you
love cheese.

No, I did not intend to stay
this long. It’s quite late. I must
be going.

Back in a second with the cheeses
and a new wine.

No. Please do not bother. I really
must be going.

Here, just taste this new bleu
I discovered. Take a sip of this
crisp white to wash it down.
Perfectly paired.

Oh my, this is delicious. Maybe
a few minutes more, but then,
I really must be going.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
