Written for: Poets United Midweek Motif~Walk (posted by Sumana)
“One can walk in so many ways: walking by faith in God; walking in a space of gratitude. We couldn’t agree more with Nelson Mandela when he says, “There is no easy walk to freedom anywhere.” Buddha tells us to walk safely in the maze of life with the light of wisdom.
So walk is the motif today.”
Put on your walking shoes
the sun is shining down.
Pump it up, get rid of those blues.
Chase away that frown.
Take off your sandals so
cool sand will thread through
the heat of your bare toes.
Don flip-flops and walk to pool.
Walk through the Gay Pride parade
in rainbow-colored sneakers
Remember to give your accolades
to those who fought when times were bleak.
Good advice altogether – but it’s winter here, so I’ll skip the beach walk in (what we call) thongs.

It is always good to find a poem with a completely different slant on the prompt, I am sure Alice would have liked it too!
