Written for: Poets United Midweek Motif~Poems to Weather Uncertain Times
(posted by Sanaa)
“In our lives we encounter uncertainty a number of times. We live through each day with hope either blooming or dissipating in our hearts. When life seems tough and spirit feels low .. remember my words .. you were created to wade in unknown waters .. in you there is power to dispel doubt and uncertainty with a firm voice. Believe me when I say that it matters what energy we decide to put into the world at the end of the day.”
What will change your indigo
to orange, your fearful yellow
to green? You thread through
trees, lost, imagining they all look
alike. Trees are as different
from each other as people are.
They fend off fits of wailing
winds, white balls of hail,
and rains that stab
as silver swords. How can
you pass through appalling
times of starving animals
and children, warfare looming
on the horizon, complacency
about dying nature? You write,
you speak up, and find
small spots of happiness
wherever you can. Know that
you have compassion. If you
did not, you would be dead
inside like hollowed out trees
that have been burned
or cut down.
This is a very wise poem. Wonderful, Sara.

Wowww!! ❤️ So much to love in this deeply wise and philosophical poem, Sara especially; “They fend off fits of wailing winds, white balls of hail, and rains that stab as silver swords.” 😀

Nothing strikes me as much sadder than the senseless cutting down of trees, especially in their prime because they are in our way.

faith in trees, Sara, especially the lines:
‘They fend off fits of wailing
winds, white balls of hail,
and rains that stab
as silver swords…’
but oh, the ending is so sad!

It should say ‘I love your faith in trees’ but, for some reason, the words were cut off. Apologies. x
