ice cream troiku

Written for:  Carpe Diem #1695 – Ice Cream  . . . Troiku

“This time I have chosen for another nice summer theme, Ice Cream. Of course ice cream isn’t specific for summer, because you can eat ice cream whole year, but in summer the ice cream gives us the coolness we need on a warm summer day.”

I found a nice haiku themed “ice cream” written by S.D. Tiwari:

snow fall in belly
adding lusciousness to feast
vanilla ice cream

Here is my attempt:

snow fall in belly
melts, turns quickly to warmth
child catches snow in mouth

adding lusciousness to feast
scooping ice cream
into waffle cones

vanilla ice cream
color of new fallen snow
sweetens belly

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
