Flutterings

Written for:  Wednesday Muse:  Butterflies!

“The butterfly counts not months but moments and has time enough.” Rabindranath Tradore

Each butterfly
is an exquisite work
of art–spotted, stained
glass, soft white,
or sea-blue edged
in black. They provide
joy in their fluttering
and flitting from flower
to flower, rarely stopping
to rest. Representing
endurance, change, hope,
and life, the butterfly
is a happy symbol to cherish.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

  1. Very nice post, including the opening quotation–which my cataracts first read as butterflies counting “moths”…crazy, I know 🙂

I like the line ‘fluttering and flittering’ – immediately brings memories on only a butterfly!
