My Words

“Raising our Poetic Voices”.  “Voice”
“Listen to the voice inside you. Voice your opinion. Give voice to a new thought. Whether you let your inner siren loose, or stick to your usual poetic voice, please scribble us a little something of exactly 44 words, using some form of the word voice. Whether you turn that voice into a shout, a doubt, a wisp of whimsy or a whispered prayer, is up to you.”

My words are stronger
than my voice
could ever be.

My words can be swords
slashing through red
tape bullshit that fills our ears.

My words can be hugs,
pats on shoulders of those
who think they are alone.

My words can elicit emotions.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

  3. Smiles Throughout my Life Words
Rather Bored me put me to Sleep
Voices Heard were my Song over
    Voice i Spoke Yet nothing
    Less than the
    Effort to
    Write or
    Even Talk
    As Neither would
Keep Up with my Mind then
    Smiles without ears or eyes
in Effective Use for 66 Months
as a Shut-in in my Home after
33 Months of not being able
to do anything in Pain and
    Numb Then to my Surprise
    Words Became my Friends
    my only Friends outside
    of a very small
    Words Are Still
    my Friends they always
come to Visit Again my Friend..
    True they are Chords Strings
    of Throat.. Beats Heart Felt
    Best of all
Now i See and Hear them
And Even Speak them True too..
But it is only the Dance That Slowed
my Mind in Flow Enough to River Wind Be..:)
