Write a haibun that alludes to Workers, Labor Day, the former and current struggles of Workers, or anything else labor related.
Being familiar with health care workers in my family,
I can state their plight: too-long hours, and adding additional
time to a twelve hour shift. This practice takes a heavy
toll.
Nurses suffer in this country. Shouldn’t they be at their best–
enough sleep and time off–when they attend to patients?
Listening to people you are caring for is vital. Present
conditions can make for mistakes, miscalculations, or worse.
Nurses are overworked and underpaid–a deadly combination.

Too true. Nurses are vital. My aunt is a retired hospice nurse and hospital administrator. She cared for her patients and their families.

Yes, I have a cousin that just retired from that part of nursing. Very tough.

Nurses are the unsung heroes of hospitals and any other medical facility in which they work. My niece just started in the profession. Thank you for your witness!

Here there is a serious lack of nurses…. and it’s not just the pay that makes them leave… A lot has to do with how work is organized (or not)…
