“with few steps”

Written for:  The Twiglets #142 – “with few steps”

He pointed his gun;
came straight at me
with few steps.

sere land left no hope
they took a few more steps, spied
shimmering oasis

In a few more steps
he will have completed
the program.

There once was a man for Oaxaca
who made a fortune teaching the cha-cha
Having few steps to teach
he had time for the beach
where somebody stole his huaraches.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

    With so few steps so much can change. Sometimes we just have to walk through the door –
    Hopefully without someone else forcing us…
