Rabbit Speaks His Mind

Written for:  Poetic Bloomings2 – Prompt #259 – Character Reference
“Think of one such character from a book or poem, or a character from a show/film. Write a poem either about that character, OR write from what you perceive to be their point of view. Any form, any style, put a smile on our faces.”

I just don’t understand that guy
pointing a rifle bigger than he is.
Bet he has no permit, and why
is he bent on shooting a rabbit, Jeez.

He stalks me with a gun from Acme,
imported, distorted, likely to bend.
I always outsmart him with brains, you see,
it’s a carrot diet on which I depend.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
