The Getaway

Written for:  Sunday Whirl, Wordle #420

Words:  safe, act, scratch, justice, knows, hack, fast, hail, burrow, roll, acid, tamper

The hack rolled
to the curb, fast
enough for Acid Al
to burrow into
the back seat,
before a hail
of bullets boomed
behind them.
“Go, Go, Go”, Al
shouted, popping
a couple of Tums
into his mouth.
The hackie said,
“You wanna get there
safe or dead?” Loud
belch from the back
seat. Al’s stomach
was really acting up.
“Somebody tampered
with that horse,
you know,” he said.
He shoulda won. There’s
justice for ya.  Hey,
maybe I’ll check out
my scratch-offs. I could
be a winner. Hackie groaned.

We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
