Inner Rhythm Patterns

Written for:  Sunday Whirl, Wordle #430

Words:  imminent, branches, till, rhythm, single, bring, inner, lick, crack, mince, dawn, light

A single person’s inner
rhythm may bring light-brights
at new dawn licking the skies
in pale mellow-yellows
and pink winks.

If branches have thinned,
they will imminently crack,
and rhythms will be off-key.
Sadness soaks into every
thought, bringing darkness
of night-fright instead
of dawn.

Strengthening is vital
until a cycle ends,
to avoid minced bits
of rhythm that can
no longer form a song.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
