My Cousin’s Company

Written for:  Poetic Bloomings2 – Prompt #274 – It’s A Wonderful Life
Write of something wonderful that has happened in your lifetime.

She passed away
one year ago–
funniest, brightest
person I have ever
known–my cousin. We
grew exceedingly close
as years went by,
and I was fortunate
each time I had
the pleasure of
her company. Quick
witted and sarcastic,
much of her humor
sailed over heads
of people who did
not know her well.
Her birth brought
us all mirth, aid,
concern. She was
a wonder.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
