“down a well”

Written for:  The Twiglets #160 – “down a well”

Mel fell
down a well
not too swell
came under spell
of witch named Nell.
He yelled and yelled
but bell did knell.

If you climbed down a wishing well, would you find coins of other’s wishes?

water drawn from well
hoisted up by heavy rope
tastes so sweet and pure

An old woman named Isabel
had a hundred-odd stories to tell
When children would visit
They always were gifted
with tales of hell at bottom of well

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
