Weekly Scribblings #4: New Tricks (posted by Rommy)
“. . . for this prompt, I’d like you to consider that phrase (“you can’t teach an old dog new tricks”) and express any thoughts you had on it in either poetry or prose form.”
As one who has never been able to teach
a new dog any tricks, I am doubtful
I can teach an old dog new tricks.
Now if we are speaking about people,
you can learn something new at any age.
Case in point: computer. So many people
who had never used a computer before
have learned and adapted to it. The Great
Courses is a magazine of all varieties
of courses you can take on line, at your
leisure. Do you learn from these courses?
I do not know. There are no quizzes or
papers to hand in. That’s why they’re great.
“No quizzes or papers to hand in” if there is no score, then you are the judge if you pass or fail. I takes the pressure off, eh?

I like those kind of courses but I learn more from one having tests. Actually I still take notes even if there are no exams, they help my learning even if I never come back to them. More of the learning senses are involved that way.

I have never cared for teaching any animal any tricks.

I’ve definitely taken advantage of on-line courses. LOL, some have been better than others mind you, but I have learned from them.

They open up learning, but some are definitely better than others.
