Rainy Day Thoughts

Written for:  The Sunday Whirl, Wordle #447

Words:  ping, meet, trend, phrase, flake, sigh, turn, fall, twist, press, break, wheel

Ping, ping, ping. First drops
of rain meet the window.
Happy it is not snowflakes
falling.  She sighs, presses
her nose to the glass, then turns.
Her Tabby is twisting in a cat
break-dance. Nice trend, that.
She used to watch break-dancers
in the park, amazed at their
agility. Now Tabby is rolling
in bed like a wheel. She recalls
a phrase from an old treasured
song, “. . .sometimes the heart
is just like a wheel . . .”

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
