What Would Mom Do?

Written for:  Poetic Asides April 2020 PAD Challenge – Day 5
Write a moment poem.

Yesterday afternoon, my sister and I were out walking,
talking
about the plethora of events, both daily and special, that
cannot now be celebrated. We sadly counted the people
in our family who are no longer here.

We looked at each other and simultaneously said, ‘Imagine
if Mommy were still alive during this crisis. She’d be
knitting and crocheting masks for everyone.’

in the time it took
a raindrop to fall, thousands
new people fell ill
