“lemon sunlight”

Written for:  The Twiglets #171 – “lemon sunlight”

Pale lemon
is sunlight’s first color
of the morning

Lemon sherbet sunlight
lit the sky
when the rain had passed.

like lemon
from the corner of my eye
the first finch

A woman who dwelled in the sunlight
met a man as dark as midnight.
Said he, why do you smile
when the world is so vile?
Said she, I see small things sparkling, bright.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

Color does seem to help our moods. While the sky is blue, what there is of it (sun is sporadic) there is also too much wind to be out… So I catch up…
Looking for those sparks of light in the good news section. 🙂
