Total Chaos

Written for:  Poetics Aside April 2020 PAD – Day 29
Write a “Total (blank)” poem.

Pushing through aisles
is absolute chaos
Rushing to shelves of meat

With mask, no visible smiles
this virus is beginning to break us
Pushing through aisles

Waiting on line seems a feat
how long is it going to take us?
Rushing to shelves of meat

We get through door after a while
the fittest start to pass us
Pushing through aisles

We head straight to Sweets
a need to bypass
Rushing to shelves of meat

Oh what a wonderful treat
to shop leisurely; it beats
Pushing through aisles
Rushing to shelves of meat.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
