Written for: The Twiglets #182 – “if only”
I could be a rock star
if only I had talent.
If only you had turned
around, our lives might
have been different.
sparrow pecks at bread
bluejays muscle their way in
if only jays shared
If only I had a ring to give you
maybe you’d see that my love is true.
She said, ‘come on, Bob,
if you had a job
you’d stop whining about things you can’t do.’

About purplepeninportland
I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York.
My goal is to create and share poetry with others
who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve
in you, and feel your sparks as well.
Hahaha, Bob is a loser.

So relatable. Well thank goodness I don’t have a Bob!
If only action were it’s own reward and also put bread on the table – what a bonus! 🙂
