That Frantic Feeling

Written for:  Poetic Bloomings2 – July Covid-19 P.A.D. – Day 16
“People Watching At The Mall”

“We’re just watching people.  What do you notice?  Who do you encounter while there?
Write a poetic character sketch of the person that most catches your eye.”

Panic in pooled
brown eyes, little
red-headed girl
holds her legs
together, hands
clutch the crotch
of her dress. Mom
drags her over
to the Women’s
Room, commanding,
“hold it, hold it,
we’re almost there.”

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
