Wealthy White Influence

Written for:  Sunday Whirl, Wordle #465

Words:  still, wail, deny, sigh, bag, voices, dead, skip, sentence, signal, tunnel, throw

Your voice sighed,
your mouth denied.
A siren wailed,
afraid of jail?
I know that bag
is filled with swag.
Still your sentence
will be light penance.
You signal white and rich
bet you’ll be allowed to skip.
You won’t wind up dead
in a cell on a bed.
Nor will you be thrown
‘gainst a wall of stone.
No tunneling through system;
it’s a slam-dunk outcome.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
