Weekly Scribblings #29: “Writing About Food”
Salivate in Summer
for juicy fruit of plums,
peaches, watermelon,
cherries, berries, and grapes.
Ice cream would do nicely
for dinners–I would love
chocolate-mint chip, coffee,
butter pecan, and peach.
I could easily skip
regular balanced meals
in Summer, but one can’t
live on fruit and ice cream.

About purplepeninportland
I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York.
My goal is to create and share poetry with others
who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve
in you, and feel your sparks as well.
Oh I don’t know….I think you could. Lovely summery poem

Then how about a Shrimp Ramon Noodle soup with some frozen shrimp and frozen green peas added for a third meal? Reminds me
of my six years total as a bachelor. But then I would experiment using my Betty Crocker Cookbook.

I still have an old paperback Betty Crocker. She’s an institution.
