Written for: dVerse Poets Pub - Quadrille #110 "Shall we bum around a bit? (posted by whimsygizmo) "Remember, the Quadrille is that pithy little creation of our own making: simply a poem of exactly 44 words, including one specific word provided. So be a beach bum. Bum a cigarette. Bum us out or have us bursting out laughing in wonder at your best bumbling of the word: Bummer. Bummed. Bumbershoot. Bumming. Bumptious. Bumpkin. Bumboat." Tough crowd at Ebbets field when the Dodgers were in Brooklyn. One bad pitch they’d yell, trow da bum out!. It was a bummer for the pitcher. Vociferous voices were unrelenting. All part of the game. Fans bumming cigarettes, cones of pink cotton candy. https://dversepoets.com/

Thanks, Dwight. I spent a half hour on a chat only to find out that I could not center a piece of text. I had to space it myself. I hate this system.

Nice slice of life. Ah, the good old days. I just learned that some teams are putting cutouts in the seats and playing canned baseball sounds.

I saw that, and it looks ridiculous. All I could think of was “Blazing Saddles” when they build a phony duplicate town.

I haven’t been to a ballgame in years, but now that I CAN’T go to one, I really really want to. What we wouldn’t give for those “yelling at the ump” days back!

We wonder when the crowd will be able to berate the pitcher and cheer the home run again. So many pleasures we didn’t take time to appreciate will be so sweet when (and if) they return!
