Drear

Words: wall, narrow, throw, hold, want, tape, morning,
lead, black, stories, after, small

An ominous lead sky
de-joyed the morning.
After holding back,
rain railed against
the narrow windows
while out in its midst,
backyard umbrella flew
across the deck. I wanted
to peel back the black tape
of sky. An indoor day.
Wanting old stores, small
cups of chocolate comfort,
and a thick wall against
the outdoors–family fortress.

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

Sounds like quite a nasty day. I’m all for hot chocolate! Peeling back the black tape of sky is an interesting image.
I think I have that kind of day headed my way, the sunrise is pink and pretty. It’s been so cold.
