“up for grabs”

Written for: The Twiglets #210 - "up for grabs"

What am I bid
for this classic set
of Fiesta ware?

Making a declaration–
I have had enough. If you
want to date her,
you have my blessing
and my pity.

engagement ring
blue diamond, square cut setting
pawnbroker's window

An infamous gold-digger was she,
moved around from county to county.
One day she met her match,
man she thought a great catch,
was detective. She's in jail, no bail, not free.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

Your series, as usual, is really good. Laughed at the last one

I always enjoy your verses. First one reminded me of the Antique’s Road show!
Second reminds me of a beau I let go! Third was kind of sad… But maybe for the best.

The Limerick reminds me of a good mystery that got solved! Fun.

  3. That was quite a story. Nicely done.
