Crest Of A Wave

VJ's Weekly Challenge - Contemplating Waves

When you wave to someone
from afar, you wait a beat.
Maybe they do not recognize
you. Chances are they will
wave back anyway–polite response.

Sometimes I feel like I am
teetering on the crest
of a wave. How long before
I lose my balance?

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

Love how you’ve tied the two together with a pause/ uncertainty in both.

Human interactions are so limited now, even a mistaken wave is welcome. That second stanza seems so perfect for the times.
