A Cool Friend

Weekly Scribblings #61: Starting a New Relationship
(posted by Rosemary)

"I’m changing the focus and asking you to write about starting a new relationship – largely because I am in the process of doing that right now! I’ll tell you more about it at my blog, and I look forward to reading what you have to say on the subject.

Of course, not all relationships are with other human beings...."

How cool would it be
to befriend a giraffe
so much taller than me
observers would laugh.

Of course all our dining
would take place out of doors,
my pal would recline
crossing all fours.

'A large green salad, please'
my new friend would order
with panache and ease.
We'd tell tales over dinner.

I would admire his coat–
every one is unique
as are friendships of note
and each rainbow's streak.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

This is so cute! I’d love to see it animated or illustrated in a book.
