"Life is full of colourful moments, each of them stories unto themselves. We capture them in photographs, or as snippets of memory, randomly recalled. Pieces of our unfinished puzzle.

This week, let’s collect those snippets, write them down, or nosy through old photographs, and select a few. Who knows what might emerge as inspiration. "

Eight-by-Ten photo
of Mom and Dad, his
cigar clenched between
fingers. World War

In cleaning out Mom's
apartment, I discover
a love letter from
Dad. So sweet.

Old albums, every
picture labeled
and dated by Dad.
Mine are loose in
boxes, some in
albums. None labeled.

My sister keeps Mom's
hand-written recipe
for brisket. How come
ours never comes out
the same?

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
