Get A Dog

Written for: April 2021 PAD Challenge - Day 10
"Write a Get ( ) poem."

A friend to lick your face with love,
who knows when you are feeling down.
A he or she to take care of.
Adopt me soulful eyes of hound

beseech you for a happy home–
a game of ball, a squeaky toy,
perhaps at times, a flavored bone.
Dogs keep you fit and bring you joy.

On Winter nights, they'll cozy up
to share a blanket on the couch.
Go get your self a needy pup.
I vouch you won't become a grouch.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
