Gonna Get You

Written for: April 2021 PAD - Day 17
"Write a waiting poem."

I will crouch behind this tree calmly waiting
for that big-eared scoundrel who's always baiting
me. Can't wait to watch his ego deflating.

Need to listen closely; he is light-weighted
Soon my rabbit stew will be marinating
I think I hear a rabbit promenading

My rifle is in my hand containing
all I need . . . but wait! that is a toy aping
a rabbit! 'What's up Doc?' Nuts, I've been outplayed.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
