All Things Even

Written for: Miz Quickly – Day 20

All things even
in the orderly
world of Beth.
Head start with
a four-letter
name. No one
to blame for
hereditary traits.
Thermostat set
on an even number.
Hair blown straight.
Pairing perfection in
the living room. Two
matching love seats
flanked by identical
end tables, sporting
matching lamps. Husband
total equals four, as
do her two pet cats.
She hopes to live
to a ripe old even-
numbered age.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
