Is Life Easier?

"Please write something on the theme of ‘Forward Movement’, in whatever way you choose to interpret that."

Moving ahead
we tread into
unknown spaces.
As we age, stepping
through stages in
our lives, can we
point to different
size stones that we
have balanced on, marking
each with wisdom, with
new knowledge–Ah yes,
this is when I . . . ?
Are we better equipped
to handle difficult
situations that change
our lives? Or do we slip
backwards because,
really, who signed up
for the life they have?

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
