Obstacles, Unseen and Seen

Written for: Miz Quickly - Day 5

"Consider obstacles."

There are people who
create their own
blocks. Oh, I would
fail, Oh, I would succeed.
Easy to put up walls,
harder to tear them down.

Then, we have true
obstacle courses built
to challenge. Mazes,
equestrian jumps,
and dog hurdles. My
dogs have made it clear–
no obstacle courses,
no costumes. They already
consider themselves
Best in Show.

About purplepeninportland

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.

Ultimately, though, the fatigue generated by one’s efforts to remove / overcome all our roadblocks can become an obstacle in its own right, no?
I had a dog once. Delicious!
