Light In Her Eyes

Written for: Sunday Whirl, Wordle #526

Words: glasses, eyes, tap, secret, years, paint,
meeting, sample, alone, words, light, blink

Her green eyes were
effulgent as glass
orbs. No other family
member possessed them.
In meeting her,
people were drawn
to her luminous eyes.
An artist should have
painted her light. After
death of her spouse,
she spent years alone.
Her words became
garbled. Whatever secrets
she kept remain untold.
She is gone. No way to tap
into them now. Fortunately,
her children see her
every day, as they look
around their houses, at
treasured samples from
her ceramics class. Blink,
and she appears in each one.

I am a freelance poet, born and bred in Brooklyn, New York. I live with my husband, John, and two charming rescue dogs–Marion Miller and Murphy. We spent eight lovely years in Portland, OR, but are now back in New York. My goal is to create and share poetry with others who write, or simply enjoy reading poetry. I hope to touch a nerve in you, and feel your sparks as well.
